Looking Back: 65 Years of Hotel Schönblick

Our Celebration - 1961 - Opening of Café Schönblick in Eichenberg

As part of the celebration marking our 65th anniversary, we had the pleasure of spending a very emotional evening with long-time companions, partners, and friends. The evening was accompanied musically by the Eichenberg Music Association and the duo Rudi and Meli. Our daughter Juliette also delighted the guests with live performances of her own songs.

The program was hosted by Günther Rettelbach, who also sang. With his rendition of “At 66,” he encouraged Monika and Karlheinz to glide across the dance floor with verve. It quickly became clear what has sustained our establishment over the years: a strong sense of community and a deep connection to the people here in the region.

In their laudatory remarks, Mayor Nico Flachsenberger, Deputy Mayor Georg Fessler, and Tourism Committee Chair Markus Kegele honored the achievements of founder Herma Hehle as well as those of Monika and Karlheinz Hehle. In particular, they emphasized the tremendous dedication and the defining importance of the Hotel Restaurant Schönblick for Eichenberg and the region. In her remarks, Monika also reflected on the paths our three children have taken: Juliette, who is a successful hotelier in Vienna; Jeremias, the future head of the business; and Jasmin, who is pursuing a career as a lawyer in Vienna.

Of course, our team was also duly introduced, and Irmgard Innauer was given special recognition as a member of staff “from the very beginning,” having been with us since the hotel opened in 1979!
With their Gsiberg version of the song “Für nen Moment,” Juliette and Günther brought many in the room to tears.

The evening concluded on a high note with the sounds of the Musikverein Eichenberg echoing across Lake Constance, featuring a special moment when Karlheinz received the baton from the conductor!

This evening showed us once again that a place like ours thrives above all on the people who have supported and shaped it over the years. We say thank you from the bottom of our hearts—for the many years we’ve shared and the bonds we’ve formed.
